This series for the Sundays after Pentecost (P7-P11) takes note of the Gospels’ use of the phrase the kingdom of heaven. In the first gospel, Jesus speaks regarding who he has come for. The next three gospel readings involve Jesus teaching about the kingdom of heaven through parables, and the last gospel reading focuses on God’s providential care over all those within his kingdom. And so this series strongly focuses on God’s sovereignty and control over bringing us into his spiritual kingdom through faith.
